OceanBlue is a digital booking platform developed for the watersports and marine leisure industry, enabling customers to book experiences such as boats, cruises, and water rides through a seamless online system. 

The platform was designed as a multi-user ecosystem connecting platform administrators, boat owners, operators, and customers through a centralized solution. OceanBlue streamlines vessel listing, booking management, commission settlements, operational controls, and customer reservations across multiple locations. 

The solution includes: 

  • Admin Web Portal for platform management and reporting
  • Owner & Operator App for fleet and booking management
  • Customer Booking App for discovering and reserving rides online 

OceanBlue was built to modernize traditional watersport bookings into a scalable and transparent digital marketplace. 

The challenge

The client required a flexible system to digitize fragmented watersport booking operations. Key challenges included: 

  • Managing multiple boat owners and operators under one platform 
  • Verifying owner authenticity through KYC before onboarding 
  • Supporting different booking models such as trip-based, hourly, and destination-wise bookings 
  • Handling live boat availability, blocked dates, and calendar scheduling 
  • Enabling operators to manage walk-in bookings and assigned vessels 
  • Managing rescheduling or transfer of bookings to alternate boats 
  • Verifying online bookings at boarding points to prevent disputes or refund claims 
  • Allowing customers to discover nearby boats and book easily 
  • Automating commission sharing between platform admin and owners 
  • Generating accurate GST, commission, and operational reports 

These manual and disconnected processes limited scalability, transparency, and customer convenience.

Solutions

We developed OceanBlue, a centralized watersports booking and fleet management platform with dedicated modules for administrators, owners, operators, and customers. 

Boat owners can register and complete a mandatory KYC verification process. Once approved by the admin, owners can list boats with flexible booking models such as trip-based, hourly, or destination-based packages. Owners can manage schedules, block dates, view bookings in calendar format, and add operators to manage operations. 

Operators can create bookings for walk-in customers, manage bookings for assigned boats only, reschedule rides, or transfer bookings to another available boat owned by the same owner. The operator app includes a QR code scanner to validate online booking receipts and mark customers as checked-in. 

Customers can browse boats by location, view nearby listings, check availability, book online, receive digital booking receipts, and access navigation directions to the boarding point. 

The platform also includes an automated commission-based revenue model, where earnings are distributed between OceanBlue admin and owners based on pre-agreed percentages. 

Comprehensive dashboards and reports provide visibility into bookings, revenue, commissions, GST, and operational performance.
